How do you rehab a Mast? Sand it down as bare as you can and then varnish it at least 8 times, sanding in between coats

I sanded the mast with an orbital sander. I was told the Mast looks like a Louisville Slugger baseball bat...

This block allows for the Mast to be inserted into the housing on the top of the boat cabin. The design was created to allow the boat to be fully and easily "trailerable"

Had to find a special piece of Oak for the bottom of the mast -- could not find a 4 by 4 dimension at and regular lumber store
